Sandblasting is a highly effective abrasive cleaning system. This method sprays solid particles at great pressure at the surface to be treated.

 

Its main uses are removing antifouling, rust and corrosion from different parts of the boat and also removing layers of rust from parts such as pumps, windlasses, etc.

Nautipaints has a 6 × 2 metre blast cabinet for performing these tasks.

 

It is normally used for parts and components where cleaning with an angle grinder cannot remove all of the rust or corrosion from corners or angles that are hard to access (windlasses, pumps, valves).
